Following discussions among Total Amiga contributors and proofreaders we have come up with the following guidelines on the usage of certain word within the magazine. The aim of this is to make the language used in articles within an issue, and particularly the technical terms more consistent. This both looks professional and helps prevent misunderstandings (for example where one author uses the abbreviation Gb for gigabyte and another uses GB). Some rules to follow also makes the job of our proofreaders much easier as they can correct to a "standard" and also not find themselves altering something someone else has already "corrected"! General RulesLanguageThe standard language of Total Amiga is British English and all articles will use British spellings. There are two exceptions to this rule:
NumbersNumbers less than 10 should be spelt where as numbers of 10 or more should be written in digits. For example:
one Quantities
Model Names
Operating Systems
Names
WordsThe preferred spelling and usage of words that have come up for discussion on the Total Amiga mailing list:
